Shadow Yoga Basics: Stepping into Strength
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of shadow yoga.  Shadow Yoga, founded by Shandor Remete, is a Hatha Yoga system that utilizes rhythmic breathing, bandhas (energetic locks) and the system of marma (vital junctions) to free the peripheral body of its energetic obstructions and to ignite our inner fire for healing and meditation. Shadow Yoga consists of circular and spiraling movements, warrior stances, and sun salutation forms that prepare students to safely and effectively practice the more advanced limbs of Hatha Yoga.

The Yoga Lab: NEW Alignment Fundamentals
Limited Capacity seats available

Given the uniqueness of each of our bodies, there are no absolutes in yoga posture alignment. Poses don’t have alignment, bodies have alignment! However, in group classes, we explore postures together that have a defined aesthetic and expression. In this Yoga Lab, we’ll explore some blueprint poses in each family of postures to better understand how to find your informed yet unique expression through the Integrated Vinyasa™ alignment principles of balancing polar key actions, observing tension and load on our tissues, and understanding the impact of our nervous system on our ability to experience change in our bodies. Includes lecture and “workshopping” of asanas. Great for both students and for teachers who want to learn how to invite students to explore their own alignment.

Hike the Famous Telluride Via Ferrata - [$]
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

For a breathtaking, unique adventure, look no further than the Telluride Via Ferrata. The route precariously traverses rock faces up to 600 feet above the forest below, exhilaratingly exposed in sections that would be impassable without the steel cables and scattered steel holds along the way. The Telluride Via Ferrata provides unmatched views of Bridal Veil Falls (the highest free falling waterfall in Colorado) the town of Telluride far below, and the surrounding peaks of the San Juan mountains.  Think of it as a hike along a sheer cliff, with steel rungs to hold onto when the going gets steep.

Mountain Trip is Telluride's only guide service accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association and when accompanied by our highly trained and experienced guides, the Telluride Via Ferrata is a perfect adventure for visitors of a wide range of abilities, albeit not particularly for those who have a fear of heights.

Mountain Trip will provide you with bottled water and snacks such as granola bars upon request, but ideally bring your own water bottle. We suggest you wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a half day hike on the day of your trip. It is important that all guests wear closed sole shoes with good traction, such as trail running shoes or light hiking boots. If there is a chance of precipitation, please add a light rain jacket to your kit. If you'd like to bring a daypack to carry extra items, please do so. We will have some light daypacks to loan out, should anyone want to borrow one. Definitely bring a camera or smart phone, as the views and setting is stunning!

Gratuity is never expected, but always appreciated. If you had a great time and feel that your guide did an exceptional job, a small demonstration of your appreciation would be welcome. Rough guidelines on gratuity would be roughly 10-15% of the trip cost.

Ignite Your Most Passionate Life
Limited Capacity seats available

Work through the 5 koshas or sheaths to get through the layers of density in the body.  Each of us has a spark that lights us up.  That guides us … sometimes that spark is muffled by false beliefs, old conditioning, unresolved pain and/or trauma.  We walk through this life, driven by these old patterns unconsciously until one day we recognize who we really are.

Move through the layers of density, shake off the old, reignite the new.  Purge the old so you can emerge new.  Class includes lecture, yoga, movement, journaling, mantra and meditation.

Sound Bath Journey
Limited Capacity seats available

Enhance your transformational weekend with a Sound Bath Shavasana where your body and mind are immersed in live meditative vibrational sounds of a Paiste gongs, quartz crystal and bronze singing bowls, as well as other ancient instruments. The sound vibrations emitted by the gongs and the Tibetan bowls send signals that are interpreted at the biological, energetic and emotional levels, directing the cells to develop in a homeostatic rather than unbalanced manner.
Gong Baths bring an intense sense of well-being and re-stabilize the balance of energies.

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies.”

Enjoy relaxing into the powerful healing and reverberating waves of sound and resound to massage, cleanse and regenerate the nervous and glandular systems. Simply lie back and have your own experience!

The feet, the hips, the core, the shoulder girdle, the wrists and hands all play an important role in getting and staying upside down.  We will open, strengthen, and integrate through an intelligent flow of foundational poses to build the strength and wake up body awareness needed to fly. We may incorporate wall-work, partner work, and ultimately move towards solo flight.

All levels are welcome. Variations and modifications will be given to beginners and frequent flyers alike.

SUP Yoga: Surfing the Pranic Waves - [$]
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Return to the roots, fluidity, and foundation of your yoga practice in this alignment-based floating SUP Yoga workshop on Elk Meadows Lake. Creating space to breathe, pause, and slow down in our practice allows us to more intimately explore the quality and extension of our breath, and the subtleties and intricacies of our pranayama and asana practice. Together we'll surf the pranic waves of our inner oceans one breath and one asana at a time.

GENERAL SUP YOGA INFO
Whether you are new to yoga or an advanced yoga practitioner, SUP Yoga provides an inclusive, rejuvenating, and fun new spin on the traditional yoga practice! It allows us to combine the physicality of Stand Up Paddle boarding and the beauty and elements of nature and floating on the water with the peace, presence, playfulness, and meditative aspects of our yoga practice. SUP Yoga provides a unique opportunity to explore our asana, pranayama, and meditation practices, while building new confidence and community on the water.

We‘re able to experience a total communion and connection with nature in a safe, accessible, relaxing, and meditative environment. It allows us to become more in tune with our yoga practice, our breath, and our sense of balance on the board, and in each asana. The confidence and courage we develop on the water and in our practice translates far beyond the paddleboard and mat and can positively affect our lives and our community in so many powerful ways. Let the water be your yoga mat and leave feeling confident, refreshed, and empowered!

Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga fuses the timeless practice of yoga with an exciting water sport and adds a challenge away from our mats that most of us take for granted. Students first learn the basics of SUP by becoming familiar with mounting the board, paddle stroke and core stabilization. Once anchored, class begins with pranayama and meditation to integrate the pranic movement of the water element into the practice, followed by low center of gravity poses and continuing further into a vinyasa practice from there. *This class is open all levels of practice and SUP experience. **For those interested, session will end with photos of you in your favorite poses on the board so you have a memory to take home with you.

***Following practice Mary Susan will be taking photos for anyone who would like to capture their SUP Yoga adventure on the water!

Please bring hat, swimsuit, layers, water, sunscreen and your camera!

We will enjoy floating through our nature-inspired practice in a nourishing and sustainable manner. We'll challenge ourselves to shift our perspective as we take our yoga practice from the mat and land to the water and flow with grace, mindfulness, and strength.

Satisfaction: A Celebration of Yoga & The Rolling Stones
Limited Capacity seats available

Santosha means contentment or satisfaction with what IS, in the present moment. At a time when we often postpone contentment for when things change or are different, this class reminds us to thoroughly explore the present moment and recognize its magnificence, even when it isn’t “perfect”. Music has a way of engaging us in the present moment, the collective we’re with and unbridles our sense of embodied freedom. And the Stones have been mastering that craft for 57 years! Bring your boogie – all are welcome!

A Photographic Exploration of the Power of Yoga to Unite People Across Cultural and Physical Divides
Limited Capacity seats available

Join world-renowned artist/photographer, Robert Sturman, as he and his camera take us around the globe. This photographic exploration highlights the power of yoga to unite people across cultural and physical divides. Sturman’s work has given him the opportunity to make art with yogis in Kenya, Italy, Thailand, Israel, Cuba, to name but a few. From United States prisons to orphanages in Africa and the streets of Palestine, he has photographed all walks of life, embodying yoga poses with equanimity and grace. So many people, so many stories: breast cancer survivors, Maasai Warriors, Hasidic Jews, police officers, soldiers and inmates serving life sentences, each one a unique expression of humanity. "For me, making art is about much more than a pretty picture. My responsibility as an artist is to capture the intrinsic beauty and irreducible value of every subject, to awaken compassion and to use art to inspire humanity to move forward, reaching towards our greatest potential.” Robert will also be sharing a few secrets on how to make powerful, poetic images, celebrating the beautiful art of yoga. One of these secrets is already within your grasp, as many of his published works have been captured through the lens of his phone.

Rewrite Your Stress Response
Limited Capacity seats available
Please purchase a $20 ticket for this offering here: Specialty Class
Learn to rewrite your unconscious response to stress in this therapeutic practice. When danger is present, whether it be physical danger (car accident, being attacked) or perceived danger (relationship worries, financial concerns), the body kicks on a series of physiological responses that induce stress and protection on the body. This activation of the Sympathetic Nervous System is often referred to as the “Fight or Flight” response. The endocrine system then releases the stress hormone called cortisol. This hormone induces emotions like worry, fear, anger and grief, all resulting in stress. High cortisol levels are associated with chronic fatigue, memory loss and Alzheimer’s.

Through conscious breath work, structured concentration and practice in moving through perceived “danger” (muscular contraction, unconscious tension) we can learn to shift our unnecessary stress responses so we are no longer subject to our feelings of anxiety and unrest. Leave the class with a deep sense of calm and presence.

Labyrinth Walking Meditation
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Join Jane & John on the sacred Telluride Valley Floor (just steps away from the TYF campus) for a walking meditation in the labyrinth - a path of prayer and an archetypal blueprint where psyche meets Spirit. It has only one path that leads from the outer edge in a circuitous way to the center. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Unlike a maze where you lose your way, the labyrinth is a spiritual tool that can help you find your way.

Walking the Labyrinth quiets the mind, opens the heart and grounds the body ... Some find answers to questions long asked, some find healing, creativity, a sense of wholeness ... What will you find on your labyrinth journey?

SUP Yoga: Take Your Practice to the Water [$]
Limited Capacity seats available

In this fun, refreshing, dynamic, and introductory SUP Yoga Workshop you'll be transported to a fluid and easeful plane of practice and being to explore, break down, and learn all of the basics and beauty of yoga on the water. We will enjoy floating through our nature-inspired practice in a nourishing and sustainable manner. We'll challenge ourselves to shift our perspective as we take our yoga practice from the mat and land to the water and flow with grace, mindfulness, and strength.

Props to bring Please bring hat, swimsuit, layers, water, sunscreen and your camera!

SUP Yoga: Breath, Roots, Core [$]
Limited Capacity seats available

In this SUP Yoga flow workshop we will explore the unifying of breath and movement, the understanding of working from the ground up and how to find our core centre so that we can journey inward.

In this workshop we will explore the meaning of Vinyasa as well as develop and explore the concepts of Breath, Roots and Core. We will adapt these concepts to keep us grounded and strongly tethered in Yogic Philosophy. With a clear and precise approach, Mary will emphasize correct alignment while working appropriately at your level of experience.

Breath-Centric: Yoga for Pranayama & Meditation
Limited Capacity filling up

In yoga the breath is EVERYTHING. It is what moves the body, regulates the nervous system, and stills the mind. It is the most tangible form of the vital life force known as Prana. Pranayama is our relationship with our body and mind.  The more we become aware of our breath, the more we are able to quiet the mind and directly experience the wisdom of our heart through meditation. This class will teach us about how to use the breath as a gateway for meditation.

Buti Yoga To Step Off Your Mat & Into the World
Limited Capacity seats available
Please purchase a $125 ticket for this offering here: Climb the Via Ferrata.
“Buti” is a Sanskrit word that means “a cure that has been hidden or kept secret”. This workshop reveals the beauty of this Buti—we will go deep into the foundations of the asana and the spiraling techniques used in this evolution of the Vinyasa practice. If you love dance, want to open your chakra channels, and elevate your ideas of what yoga can do for you, then this workshop is for you.
Come connect to our ancestors with tribal dance, from Polynesian to Native American to West African! These dance movements will be infused into the yoga practice to shift the way you move through asana sequences. Add in elements of strengthening and conditioning, with pranayama and mudra, and you have every tool in the book to elevate your yoga practice. We will also be covering ways to release tension and trauma through movement, as well as create greater expansion and feel the Divine awaken this healing practice in you.

The first half will be lecture based with posture clinics, mastering movements and concepts that will be used later. The second half will be an hour Buti Yoga class where we will apply all the techniques we have learned!

Please join Kate Mulheron as she gathers in circle to celebrate the brilliant LIGHT of SUMMER SOLSTICE. The longest day of the year is to be celebrated as it is the peak of EVERYTHING you have been growing toward since Winter Solstice this past December. This is why pausing in ritual to honor the sacred of the SHIFT is so profound—it's essential. It's so humbling as we bow in reverence to Grandfather Sun as he truly shines in brightness to commemorate this day on your path. You have made it, come celebrate another turn around the sun!

During the ceremony we will HONOR the 7 Directions. With each direction of the 7 Direction Cycle there will be space to revisit intentions planted at Winter Solstice from the as we ask for clarity on actions needed to bring these intentions to fruition in this vibrant energy of Summer Solstice and clarity on what do we need to let go of so we can grow abundantly in our life and the path we are choosing to walk!! We will then move into a self-reflective YOGA and we will finish with a vision quest that will allow you space to go on a soul’s journey through a guided meditation.

Jay Kraemer will be joining us in circle to share his LIVE soundscaping intuitive music in offering a bright way to receive this new season of light,

Sound Bath to Close the Weekend
Limited Capacity seats available

Close out your transformational weekend with a Sound Bath Savasana where your body and mind are immersed in live meditative vibrational sounds of a Paiste gongs, quartz crystal and bronze singing bowls, as well as other ancient instruments.

Enjoy releaxing into the powerful healing and reverberating waves of sound and resound to massage, cleanse and regenerate the nervous and glandular systems. Simply lie back and have your own experience!
